1. MegaPixel:

This is the first terminology; you may hear when you go for shopping digital cameras. Basically, in digital picture world, the images are formed by dots called as pixel. More the density of dots (pixel) next each other, more the photo/picture quality will be. So, it is better to go for higher megapixel. But, again it also depend on the size of the photograph we want or the size we want to enlarge it to.
